KANSAS CITY – The Denver Pioneers volleyball team put itself in position to compete for a Summit League regular-season championship on Saturday with a commanding victory at Kansas City. The Pioneers dropped the Roos 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) on Friday, snapping the unbeaten home record for KC this year.
Turning Point
Denver used a 15-4 run in the second set to separate from KC en route to picking up the set win to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
1st Set
The Pioneers opened with a 5-2 run to start the contest before Kansas City tied it at 6-6 with its own 4-1 run. Denver set the tone after that, using commanding serves and efficient attacks to go 19-11 the rest of the set, winning 25-17.
2nd Set
The Crimson and Gold again started fast, doubling up the Roos 6-3 after a kill from
Katarina Marinkovic. KC closed to within one at 8-7 after an ace from Alex Ratzlaff. Denver, though, broke this open after that, with a 15-4 game-changing run to go up 23-11 and force Kansas City to take a timeout. The Roos couldn't muster any offensive against a stout Pioneer front, being held to a -.079 hitting percentage in the set.
3rd Set
KC got out to a 6-4 advantage, their first early advantage of the contest. Pioneers, found their rhythm, countering with a 4-2 run to tie things up at 8-8. Denver made its move late, breaking a one-point contest at 17-16 with an 8-4 run to clinch the victory and get the sweep.

- Denver continued its stellar road play this season, improving to 7-0 this year.
- Kansas City had its 11-match winning streak snapped with the loss.
- The Pioneers had a clean match, finishing with only eight errors, second lowest of the season.
Significant Stats
- Four Crimson and Gold players finished with at least six kills.
- Brianna Green led the way eight kills, her second straight game with as many.

Tina Boe had seven block assists, her second-highest total of the year.
