Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Denver volleyball team secured the Summit League regular season championship with its second-straight 3-0 victory (25-16 25-18 25-17) over Kansas City on Saturday.
DU has now won or shared the regular season conference title in six of the last seven years.
1st Set
The Pioneers started down two in the hole before running off three straight points as part of a big run to take 9-3 lead early, forcing Kansas City to take a timeout. Denver kept the aggressive approach going, pushing their lead to 14-6 after a forceful kill from
Ari Winters. DU cruised from there to take the first set, 25-16.
2nd Set
Denver opened the second set on a 7-1 run featuring three aces from
Lydia Bartalo and leading to another early timeout from Kansas City. The Pioneers opened up a seven-point lead midway through the set before eventually closing out a 25-18 win off a
Tina Boe kill.
3rd Set
DU again began the set strong, leading 5-0 early with the run capped by another Bartalo ace. After the Roos closed the gap to 14-12, Denver opened up a 21-16 lead before Kansas City called a timeout. A kill from Bartalo started Denver's run toward the finish line. Kansas City saved a match point at 24-16, but Boe put away the 25-17 set win and Denver victory.

- Denver continued its stellar road play this season, improving to 8-0 this year – marking the first time in program history that the Pioneers have finished the regular season undefeated on the road.
- Denver is riding a 12-0 set win streak that dates back to March 19.
- Saturday's Denver victory marked back-to-back losses for Kansas City, which was previously unbeaten at home this season.
