Denver Completes Sweep of Omaha on Senior Day

Early goal from Sydney Sharp the difference in the Pioneers 12th win in Summit League play

DENVER  – The University of Denver women's soccer team got an early goal from Sydney Sharp and kept its eighth cleansheet of the season to complete a sweep of Omaha on Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

First Half:
Sharp got Denver on the board in the seventh minute with her fourth goal of the season. A bouncing ball fell to the feet of Sami Feller to setup the early breakthrough. Feller dribbled through a pair of Maverick defenders, got to the endline, and slid the ball back to the top of the six-yard box to the run of Sharp. Sharp finished her chance on a one-timed effort to put the Pios in-front.

The opportunity was Denver's only real opportunity of the half. Omaha created a couple chances of its own in the opening 45 minutes, but Nerea Arrazola stopped two and Meg Halvorson cleared a ball off the line on an Omaha corner kick to preserve Denver's goal advantage heading into the locker room.

Second Half:
Denver defended well to preserve the shutout in the second half. Each team had three shots and the Pioneers took the only corner kick of the second 45.

Up Next:
Denver will have next weekend off before closing out the regular season at Kansas City April 9 and 11. Kickoff for the series opener is set for 6 p.m. CT/5 p.m. MT.
