DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team defeated Kansas City 6-1 in the Pioneers' Summit League opener on Sunday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
Denver earned the doubles point to start the match. All three tandems were leading but No. 2 and No. 3 doubles got the official results with
Tatum Burger &
Anna Riedmiller and
Hada Chang &
Toni Nelson picking up wins.
After securing the doubles point, the Pioneers earned wins on courts one, two, three, four and six. Riedmiller won in straight-sets at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-0.
Britt Pursell defeated her opponent 1 and 1 on the No. 2 court.
Camille Verden-Anderson won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 on the No. 3 court. Chang won 7-5, 6-1 on the No. 4 court and Nelson wrapped up the Pioneers points with a 6-2, 7-5 win on the No. 6 court.

Denver will continue its homestand and stay in Summit League play next Saturday when the Pioneers welcome Omaha to the Denver Tennis Park. First serve is set for 10 a.m. MT.
