Last Time Out
In a match-up of two teams that entered the weekend 4-0 in the BIG EAST standings, Denver swept UConn by scores of 14-13 (3OT) and 11-7 in Storrs, Ct., last weekend.
Friday's thriller saw the Pioneers race out to a five-goal lead. UConn's comeback sent the game to overtime and
Bea Behrins ended the contest with her fifth of the day in 3OT. In the win, Behrins became the 17
th Pioneer in the program's Division I history to reach the century mark in career goals.
Sunday's win was a defensive slugfest that saw the Pioneers down 4-3 heading into the intermission. Denver's defense held the eighth-ranked scoring offense to just three goals in the second half, while the Pioneers offense came alive on the other end, rattling off eight goals in the second 30 minutes.
Julia Gilbert and Behrins scored four goals apiece, and
Gracie DeRose finished with a career-high six caused turnovers, tied for the seventh-most in a single game in Denver's DI history.
Series History
Denver is a perfect 4-0 in its Division I history against Marquette, winning the first three meetings by six goals and the most recent match-up in 2019 by a count of 21-11. Denver is averaging 16.75 goals per game in the four previous meetings.

- Little was invited to a U.S. team tryout for the 2021 Women's World Championship and assistant coach Brittany Read was named to England's training squad for the championship, which was later postponed.
- DU is second in the country in caused turnovers per game at 13.44, eighth in scoring defense (8.67) and 12th in scoring margin (6.0).
- Amelia Cole is fifth in the country in goals against average at 7.83.
- Kailey Conry is 11th in the country among active players in career points with 267 and second in assists (183)
UP NEXT: Denver returns home next weekend to close out BIG EAST regular season play. The Pioneers will host Villanova in a two-game set starting Friday at 1 p.m. MT before the season finale Sunday at 1 p.m. MT.
