LAST TIME OUT:
DU placed second in the NCAA Regional Second Round on Friday, joining No. 8 Minnesota as the two advancing teams from Session I at the Athens Regional. Denver's 196.775 was .025 ahead of host Georgia to secure the top-two finish needed to move to the regional final round.
Senior Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) helped lead Denver's performance in Friday's meet, scoring a 39.725 in the all-around with four scores of at least 9.900 including a near-perfect 9.975 on vault to tie her career high.
QUICK HITS:
This is the second year of the three-day NCAA Regional format, which debuted in 2019. The two lowest-ranked teams at each regional site competed in Thursday's NCAA Regional First Round with the winner advancing to Friday's second-round meets. The top two finishers in each NCAA Regional Second Round competition on Friday have advanced to Saturday's NCAA Regional Final where two berths to the NCAA National Championships are on the line.
SCOUTING THE GOPHERS:
Minnesota led DU's session on Friday with a 197.625, which tied the program's third-highest score. Lexy Ramler had the highest all-around score with a 39.775, and teammate Ona Loper had a perfect 10.0 on vault. After both sessions' results were combined, Loper also added a share of the regional floor title.
SCOUTING THE GATORS:
Florida advanced as the top team in Session II on Friday, posting a 197.950 to lead all teams when results were combined. Trinity Thomas scored a perfect 10.0 to win the regional bars title while Alyssa Baumann won the beam title with a near-perfect 9.975. Nya Reed shared the floor title with Denver's Brown and Minnesota's Loper, and Megan Skaggs was third overall in the all-around.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK:
North Carolina State became the first program to compete in an NCAA Regional First Round meet and advance all the way to the regional final after topping Western Michigan on Thursday and upsetting Illinois to place second in Friday's second round. The team's 196.775 became a school record for highest NCAA Regionals score.
WHAT'S NEXT:
Should the University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Front Range Toyota Stores, place in the top two in Saturday's meet, DU will advance to the NCAA National Championships on April 16-17.

- Brown continued her streak of winning at least one title in every meet this season, capturing a share of the regional floor title with a 9.950. She also finished as the all-around and vault runner-up.
- Denver's 49.425 on floor was the second-highest postseason score in program history, despite the team competing with only five student-athletes in the lineup.
- The team's 196.775 in the second-round meet is the fourth-highest score at NCAA Regionals in DU history. Only the two meets in 2019 and the team's score in 2017 were higher than Friday's mark.
- Senior Mia Sundstrom (Boulder, Colo.) was substituted into the vault lineup at the last minute, and her 9.850 in the fifth spot mathematically clinched DU's win over Georgia to advance. She also had a 9.850 at the Big 12 Championship in her return to the bars lineup to mathematically secure DU's victory.
- Three freshmen set or tied at least one career high in Friday's meet: Jessica Hutchinson (Gilbertsville, Pa.) in the all-around and on beam; and Abbie Thompson (Sanford, Fla.) and Rosie Casali (Weddington, N.C.) each on floor.
