DENVER – The [45] University of Denver men's tennis team won its three necessary singles matches less than three minutes apart to defeat Omaha 4-0 in the Summit League Final on Saturday morning at the Denver Tennis Park. The conference tournament title is Denver's first since 2017, its fifth in the Summit League and its sixth conference tournament title overall.
Doubles:
89th-ranked Matt Summers and James Davis were the first tandem to cross the finish line, taking their match 6-3. The No. 3 court clinched for the Pioneers when Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and Ignacio Rivero Crespo wrapped up their match 6-2.
Singles:
Denver won its three singles matches on courts three, four and five. Cuesta wrapped up his match first, 6-0, 6-4. Minutes later Peter Sallay won 6-3, 6-3, and seconds after that Summers won 6-2, 6-3.
Significant Stats
- Cuesta won his 11th-straight singles match to improve to 15-1 on the year.
- Sallay improved to 13-4 on the season.
- Summers is 11-6 on the year in singles.
