NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The University of Denver women's lacrosse program earned four spots on the 2021 IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Teams, the coaches association announced on Wednesday.
Bea Behrins and
Molly Little earned First Team All-Region honors, while
Hannah Liddy and
Sam Thacker were named to the second team. On Tuesday, Little was also named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American.
Behrins led the Pioneers in the 2021 campaign with 68 points in 18 games on a team-high 51 goals and 17 assists. She scored four game-winning goals, 10 free-position goals, picked up 19 ground balls, five draw controls and forced nine turnovers. Behrins netted 10 hat tricks, including a sock trick against Butler on March 21, back-to-back five goal games against Georgetown and UConn and two additional five goal games against Villanova and in the NCAA First Round against Stanford.
Little captained Denver's defense, picking up 56 draw controls and 37 ground balls to go with 30 caused turnovers in the 18-game campaign. Especially late in the season, Little got involved in transition as well, finishing the campaign with eight goals and five assists for 13 points, including her first career hat trick in the NCAA Second Round at Northwestern. Little picked up a season-high six ground balls in Denver's overtime win over UConn on April 9, and forced a season-best four caused turnovers in the series opener vs. Georgetown.
Liddy led the team in assists with 46 to go with 20 goals for 66 points, good for second in the Pioneers attack this season. In her goal scoring column, Liddy had hat tricks against Georgetown (4 on March 26) and against Villanova in the BIG EAST Semifinals. Liddy had 3+ assists in eight games, including six against Arizona State and against Villanova twice in a weekend series at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Thacker had an impressive sophomore season on the defensive side of the ball, picking up 36 ground balls to go with 35 draw controls and 35 caused turnovers in 18 games. She had a season-high five ground balls and five caused turnovers in Denver's early-season win over Arizona State, and picked up a season-best five draw controls in the Pioneers series-opening win over Georgetown at the end of March.
