DU Makes Move to the Top on Moving Day at Summit League Championship

Pioneers shoot 9-under as a team on Sunday
NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver men's golf team turned one of its best rounds of the year on Sunday at the Summit League Championship Presented by the U.S. Special Warfare, taking command of the team lead through two rounds. The Pioneers posted a team score of 279 (9-under) on the day.
Course Info:
- Sand Creek Station Golf Course
- Par 72 for the course
- 7,086 yards
Significant Stats:
- DU's 9-under 279 was the lowest round of the tournament so far, giving them a nine-shot lead over Oral Roberts.
- Denver recorded 21 birdies on the round, upping its total to 39 in two rounds, most in the nine-team field.
Inside the Round for the Pioneers:
- John Sand continued to stay in the hunt, firing a 2-under 70 for a second straight day to finish in second place, just three shots off the lead.
- Carson Griggs jumped up seven spots into a tie for third on Sunday, shooting a 2-under 70. The junior is even par (140) through 36 holes.
- Jackson Solem made the biggest leap up the leader board in round two, climbing 13 spots to finish tied for fifth at 1-over. Solem shot a 3-under on the afternoon on Sunday. - Cal McCoy is tied for ninth at 2-over.
- Jun Ho Won went up 11 spots at shooting 2-under on the day, finishing tied for 11th at 3-over.
