Pioneers Secure Third Summit League Championship

Denver repeats as league champions from 2019
NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver men's golf team made it a smooth sailing day, keep the field at bay to capture the Summit League Championship on Monday. The Pioneers posted a team score of 865 (1-over) to take home the team title.
Course Info:
- Sand Creek Station Golf Course
- Par 72 for the course
- 7,086 yards
Significant Stats:
- The Crimson and Gold repeated as Summit League Champions for the first time in program history, taking the 2019 league title as well.
- The win marks the third league championship DU has won since joining back in 2013.
- Denver finished with the three-day event with 51 birdies, most in the field.
- DU was dominant all weekend on the par 5 holes, going 7-under as a team.
- The Pioneers had three Summit League All-Tournament Team selections in Jackson Solem, John Sand and Carson Griggs.
Inside the Round for the Pioneers:
- Solem was the star for the Crimson and Gold, shooting the low round of the day with a 4-under 68 to jump into second place. Solem highlighted his round by getting an eagle on hole No. 10.
- Sand wrapped up his round in third with a 54-hole total of 1-under. The senior posted a 75 on the final day of play in Newton.
- Griggs finished out the tournament in a tie fourth place at 2-over. Griggs posted a 2-over 74 in the final round.
- Cal McCoy tied for 12 at 5-over.
- Jun Ho Won closed out his round tied for 20th.
