SIOUX FALLS, S.D.  – The University of Denver men's golf team junior Carson Griggs was recognized on Tuesday, being named to the Summit League All-Academic Team for his success on the course and in the classroom in a release by the league.

This marks the second straight year that the Sand Springs, Okla. native has made the team, which consisted of six individuals from across the league.  

Student-athletes are nominated by their respective sports information directors (SIDs) and then voted on by a panel composed of faculty athletics representatives from each university and SIDs.

In order to be considered for the academic all-league golf team, a student-athlete: must have at least a 3.3 cumulative career grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale); must have completed at least one full academic year (two semesters, three quarters) at the current institution; and must have participated in 50 percent of their team's completed competitions.

Griggs, a 3.67 GPA student majoring in business, turned in top-10 finishes at both The Summit League Championship (t4th) and NCAA Championship (t9th) and was named to the all-league second team following his junior season.

"I am so happy for Carson to be recognized for his hard work and success on and off the course," head coach Trake Carpenter said. "It's a testament to his commitment to this program and the university. Carson is a very bright and hard-working student-athlete committed to being the best version on himself he can be. It's great to see others recognizing that around the league."
