Denver Welcomes All Six Colorado Teams Sunday

The Colorado Cup triple header will be played at 12, 2:30 and 5 p.m., with Denver playing the middle match

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer program will host the annual Colorado Cup Sunday at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium this weekend.
 
Sunday Schedule – All Games at Denver
12 p.m. MT – Colorado vs. Colorado College
2:30 p.m. MT – Denver vs. Colorado State
5 p.m. MT – Northern Colorado vs. Air Force

For the 2021 season, the University of Denver announced the creation of a new DU soccer fan club called "Denver FC". Denver's Colorado Cup Schedule:
August 14            at Colorado College (W, 3-1 – officially an exhibition in NCAA regular season)
August 19            Air Force (W, 5-0)
August 22            Colorado State (2:30 p.m. MT)
 
Colorado Cup Standings:
Denver is in the top spot of the 2021 Colorado Cup standings heading into the final day of the play.  
 
Last Time Out:
Kaitlyn Glover opened the scoring in the 18th minute of Denver's second Colorado Cup match against Air Force. After the interval, Denver found the back of the net four times in the second 45, from four different goal scorers to run away with a 5-0 result. Sydney Sharp made it 2-0 in the 57th, Chaynee Kingsbury tallied her first goal in Crimson and Gold 60 seconds later. Taylor Wells hit a one-time finish in the 76th and McKenna Dannenhauer rounded out the scoring in the 77th.
 
Denver vs. Colorado State Series History:
Denver is 1-3-1 all-time against Colorado State, including 1-1-1 in the last three matches. The Pioneers' lone victory in the series came in 2017, a 1-0 win in extra time.
 
Notable Stats:
  • Sharp has three goals in two matches this year (including the exhibition) and four goals in Denver's last five official matches dating back to last season.
  • The Pioneers second and third goals on Thursday were 60 seconds apart, the 10th-fastest consecutive goals in Denver's Division I history.
  • With her two assists on Thursday, Sami Feller passed former Pioneer Hannah Adler and now has 69 career points to take over ninth in Denver's career record book.
Returning Starters:
Denver returned nine starters on Thursday night that featured in Jeff Hooker's Starting XI just three months ago. Taylor Wells featured in place of Meg Halvorson and Addisyn Hyrup played outside back in place of Alex Nillen.
 
What's Next:
Denver continues its five-match homestand to start the regular season with a match against Utah on Thursday (August 26) at 7 p.m. MT.
