Goulding looks to build on recent success of DU program
DENVER  – The University of Denver of Division of Athletics and Recreation named Logan Goulding the new head coach of the Pioneers men's golf program, Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Karlton Creech announced on Wednesday.
"We are really excited about the opportunity to add Logan to our Denver Athletics and Recreation family, and to watch him lead our group of young men in Denver men's golf going forward," Creech said. "I'm confident that Logan will be able to hit the ground running and ultimately take this program to new heights."
Goulding spent the past four seasons at the University of San Diego as an assistant coach.
"I am extremely humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be the next head men's golf coach at the University of Denver," Goulding said. "Denver is a phenomenal institution with a history of success. I can't wait to get started." Â
While with the Toreros, Goulding was instrumental in helping build the team into a powerful contender in the West Coast Conference over the years, highlighted by an appearance in the NCAA Championships this past May in Scottsdale.
Goulding arrived at USD after one year as the head coach at Hawaii Pacific University where he was the leader of both the men's and women's golf programs during the 2016-17 season.
Prior to Hawaii Pacific, Goulding worked as a professional caddy. He worked with LPGA TOUR player Karen Chung and PGA tour Canada player Byron Meth. Prior to that, Goulding was a volunteer assistant coach at the University of the Pacific, in charge of player development and course management.
Goulding played college golf at the University of Hawaii-Hilo from 2006 to 2010 and was named to the PacWest All-Conference team three times.
Denver looks to build off its best season in recent memory, capturing the Summit League Championship for a second straight season and putting itself in position to make its first NCAA Championship appearance in over 60 years at the NCAA Cle Elum regional back on May 19, with the Pioneers finishing sixth, one spot of the top-five needed to advance.
