Pioneers Wrap Up Homestand with Sweep of Tommies

Denver with 12 service aces in win

DENVER – The University of Denver Volleyball closed out its nine-match homestand with a win on Saturday, putting away St. Thomas in three sets (25-14, 25-12, 25-17) in Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers (11-1) upped their winning streak to eight in the victory.

Inside the Box Score
  • Erica Andrich led the way with a season-high 12 kills.
  • DU recorded 12 service aces on the day, second most of the year.
  • Lorrin Poulter had a match-high three aces.s
  • The Crimson and Gold posted a +.300 hitting percentage for the seventh time this year, resulting in a 7-0 record.
Significant Stats
  • The Pioneers win puts them at 103-9 at home since 2014, fifth best record in all of the NCAA during that stretch.
  • Denver's 11-1 start to the year is its best since 2018.
  • The Crimson and Gold have now won its last 16 sets.
Turning Point
An 8-3 run to close out the first set.

1st Set
Denver opened with 12-8 start on the Tommies. The Pioneers pushed their lead to 17-11 after an attack error from St. Thomas, resulting in them taking a timeout. DU closed with a commanding 8-3 run, capped off by a kill from Tina Boe, her third of the set.

2nd Set
An 8-2 run, highlighted by big plays from Boe and Hailey Green, set the tone for the set. Denver pushed its advantage to double-digits at 12-2 after an ace, its fifth of the contest. The Pioneers proved to be too much for the Tommies, cruising to a 25-12 set victory.

3rd Set
DU took the third set 25-17, posting .333 hitting percentage to close out the afternoon. Denver picked up four aces in the set.
