ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Denver men's tennis team continued play at the ITA Division I Men's Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico, on Saturday.
Junior and No. 3 seed
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta dropped his quarterfinal match in the singles Main Draw. Sophomore
Daniel Sancho Arbizu and redshirt senior
Anish Sriniketh both earned wins in two sets in their consolation matches in the Main Draw.
Graduate student Mitch Johnson fought back to force a third-set match tiebreak in his consolation match but ultimately lost.
Freshman
Raffaello Papajcik fell in the semifinals of the singles Flight B, winning the first set but losing the final two sets.
In doubles, Herrero Cuesta/Sancho Arbizu won their round-of-16 match 8-4 but fell in the quarterfinals. Sriniketh/Johnson were set to play a consolation match but advanced when their opponents withdrew from the match.
