Glasgow Leads Way as Denver Gets Split With North Dakota State

Pioneers win sixth straight on the road

FARGO, ND --Cadi Boyer racked up 10 kills with a .563 hitting percentage to help carry the Denver volleyball team to a 3-2 victory (25-17, 27-25, 27-29, 17-25, 15-9) against the North Dakota State Bison Saturday on the road at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

The conference win improved Denver's record to 18-10 overall and 12-5 in Summit play.

The Pioneers were led by a double-double from Jordan Lockwood, who registered 11 kills and 14 digs on the day. Memphis Glasgow also added 18 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Gianna Bartalo chipped in for with 13 digs to go with eight blocks from Brianna Green.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Pioneers grabbed control of the set-one lead at 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-17. Denver led by as many as nine points at 23-14 before finishing off the set, totaling 16 kills . got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five North Dakota State attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Denver put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 27-25 victory in set number two. Impressive serving helped the Pioneers earn the set-two victory. Denver totaled five aces in the set win. After the lead changed hands six times, the Pioneers took control for good at 26-25 and rode that advantage to victory. Denver's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four North Dakota State attacks in the stanza.

SET 3 | North Dakota State avoided an early loss with a third-set win to make it a 2-1 match. The Pioneers fell in a close set, losing 29-27 in a stanza that was tied 10 times and had five lead changes.

SET 4 | Denver then dropped their second straight set 25-17 to brind the match level at two sets apiece. The Pioneers trailed by as many as eight points as North Dakota State grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 and Denver wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up three times before the Bison took over.

SET 5 | Denver required five sets to secure victory. After they jumped out to an early two sets to none lead, North Dakota State responded to take the third and fourth sets before the Pioneers finished off their victory with a 15-9 fifth-set win. The Pioneers took control of the set-five lead at 2-1 and held it the rest of the way. Denver ended strong, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, six points, to finish off the set, totaling 14 kills along the way.
