DU Women’s Soccer Inks Eight for 2023-24

Denver welcomes future Pios from five states including Colorado

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer team will welcome eight student-athletes for the 2023-24 season, head coach Jeff Hooker announced on Monday.
 
Shannon Clark, Michaela McGowan, Liv Moritz, Kera Nguyen, Shay Payne, Luci Vincent, Molly Wissman and Nora Zelazny all signed their National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Denver beginning in the fall of 2023.
 
Shannon Clark is a goalkeeper from Naperville, Illinois. In 2022, she achieved an 18-2-2 record with 13 shutouts and a GAA of .550 with her club team Galaxy SC (IL), which was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation according to GotSoccer.com. She started all four years at Benet Academy and is a two-time Goalie of the Year.
 
Michaela McGowan is from Broomfield, Colorado, and played forward for Real Colorado. In 2022, her club team won the ECNL National Championship, and she helped Broomfield High School to the state title in 2021. For the upcoming 2023 high school season, she was named team captain.
 
Liv Moritz is a center midfielder from Vail, Colorado. She was the 2022 3A Western Slope Player of the Year after her season with the Vail Mountain School, helping her team to the state quarterfinals in 2022 and the semifinals in 2021. During the 2022 high school season, she averaged three points a game.
 
Kera Nguyen joins DU from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and played forward at Thunderridge High School. In 2022, she earned All-League First-Team honors and added a spot on the Academic All-State First Team. She reached as high as No. 19 in the GotSoccer.com national rankings during the 2022 season.
 
Shay Payne is a forward from Rosemount, Minnesota. She earned ECNL All-Conference status in 2021 and added All-Conference honors following her junior year at Rosemount High School. As a senior, she led Rosemount in assists and was second on the team in assists as a junior.
 
Luci Vincent is from Salt Lake City and played both forward and defender for Utah Celtic. In 2022 for East High School, she averaged .7 goals per match, totaling 12 goals and adding four assists. She helped lead East H.S. to the 2022 5A Region 6 Championship and had the second most goals scored in the region.
 
Molly Wissman is a goalkeeper from Santa Fe, New Mexico. During her time at Santa Fe High School, she set the school record for saves and helped lead the team to the state finals in back-to-back years. For her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, she earned First-Team All-State honors.
 
Nora Zelazny is from Wilmette, Illinois, and played outside back for Chicago's FC United. In 2018, her club team won the state championship and advanced to the regional semifinals, and qualified for the national playoffs in 2020 and 2021. She was the FC United captain in 2022.
