NEW ORLEANS, LA --Justin Mullins, Tommy Bruner and Marko Lukic combined to score 61 of Denver's 77 total points as the Pioneers defeated the New Orleans Privateers 77-76 on the road Friday.

Mullins led the Pioneers (6-1) with 27 points. Bruner tacked on 19 points and five assists and Lukic chipped in as well with 15 points.

Denver forced 18 New Orleans turnovers. The Pioneers turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Tyree Corbett led the way individually with four steals.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 7-5 advantage, Denver went on a 9-0 run with 15:16 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Mullins, to increase its lead to 16-5. The Pioneers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 35-30 advantage. Denver did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 35 points close to the basket.

New Orleans proceeded to take a 57-54 lead before Denver went on a 5-0 run to seize a 59-57 lead with 5:44 to go in the contest. The Privateers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Pioneers still held on for the 77-76 win. Denver capitalized on 12 New Orleans turnovers in the period, collecting 15 points off those turnovers.
