OMAHA, NE --Five Pioneers scored in double digits, but Denver fell to the Omaha Mavericks 83-66 on the road Monday.
The Pioneers (9-4, 0-1) had five players score in double figures, led by Justin Mullins, who had 15 points and two steals. Tommy Bruner added 15 points and Tyree Corbett chipped in as well with 11 points and seven rebounds from the bench.
How It Happened
After falling behind 4-2, Denver went on a 9-0 run with 18:13 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Bruner, to take an 11-4 lead. Omaha then responded to tie things up at 37-37 heading into halftime. Denver got the job done in the paint in the first half, scoring 24 of its 37 points close to the basket.
Omaha then snagged a 61-54 advantage before Denver responded by going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Bruner's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 61-59 with 6:00 to go in the contest. Omaha responded and outscored the Pioneers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 83-66.
