Denver Win Streak Reaches Six in 84-75 Victory of Texas A&M Commerce

Pioneers continue historic start; move to 8-1 on the year

DENVER, CO --Five Pioneers scored at least 10 points and Denver knocked off the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions 84-75 at home Sunday.

The Pioneers (8-1) had five players score in double figures, led by Tommy Bruner, who had 20 points and five assists. Justin Mullins added 16 points and Touko Tainamo chipped in as well with 14 points.

Led by Lukas Kisunas' six offensive rebounds, Denver did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 15 boards that resulted in 15 second chance points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 11-9, Denver went on an 11-0 run with 14:12 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Tainamo, to take a 20-11 lead. The Pioneers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 39-35.

Denver narrowed its deficit to 55-54 before going on a 7-0 run to seize a 61-55 lead with 9:20 to go in the contest. The Pioneers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 84-75 win. Denver made the most of six offensive rebounds to tack on nine second chance points out of 49 total in the period.
