DENVER – The University of Denver hockey team ranks No. 1 overall in both the DCU/USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls after the latest national rankings were released on Monday.
 
The Pioneers are coming off a weekend sweep of the Arizona State Sun Devils, winning 3-2 on Friday and 5-2 on Saturday.
 
DU is No. 1 for the fourth-straight week in the DCU/USCHO.com ranking, picking up 29 first-place votes and 971 points. Denver returned to the top spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll after being second last week behind Minnesota, which had one more first-place vote (11-10) and point (635-634) than the Pioneers.
 
The Gophers have two more first-place votes than DU in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week (16-14), but the Denver has the edge in total points, 646-638.
 
Overall, the NCHC has three teams ranked with St. Cloud State (4/4) and Western Michigan (17/17) joining the Pioneers in the top 20. Omaha and North Dakota both received votes in the polls.
 
Denver resumes conference play this weekend as the team travels to face the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday before returning home to take on Lindenwood on Dec. 16-17 to begin a six-game homestand.
 
About the DCU/USCHO.com Poll: The rankings are compiled weekly and consists of 50 voters, including coaches and media professionals from across the country.
 
About the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll: The rankings are conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association. The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey.
