DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team (3-1) got the crucial doubles point and three singles wins to defeat Nebraska (2-3) 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
Denver's win was its first over a power five conference program since a victory over Utah in February of last season and its first over a Big Ten program since defeating the same Nebraska Huskers on January 29, 2016.
Doubles:
Denver captured its first doubles point since the season opener on Sunday afternoon, earning convincing wins on the first and third courts to get an early edge in the match.

James Davis and
Matt Summers improved to 3-1 on the year on the top doubles court, winning their match 6-1.
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta and
Mattia Ros clinched the point for the Pioneers with a 6-1 win on the No. 3 court, taking their record to 2-1 as a team this season.
Singles:
Herrero-Cuesta was the first over the finish line in singles on the No. 2 court to extend Denver's lead to 2-0. Herrero Cuesta ran his record to 3-1 on the season on Denver's second court with a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 win at the DTP.
Nebraska cut the lead in half with a win on court six before
Peter Sallay evened up his record on the season on court five, coming from a set down to take his match 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The Huskers grabbed a straight-set win on court four to cut the Pioneers margin to back to one, but Summers capped off a two-point day and improved to 4-0 in singles play this season with a 7-5, 7-5 win over his opponent.
On the No. 1 court, Davis was well on his way to a victory a set and a break up, but Summers match was the first over the finish line, halting play on the No. 1 court.
UP NEXT: Denver will stay in the state but return to the road next week to take on Air Force Friday at 5:30 p.m. MT.
