BOISE, Idaho – The [55] University of Denver men's tennis team (7-6) got back in the win column with a 4-1 victory over Loyola Marymount in a neutral site match on Saturday afternoon at the Boas Tennis Center.
Doubles:
James Davis and
Matt Summers got their second win of the weekend together to improve to 7-3 on the campaign on Denver's top court, but LMU got wins on courts two and three to take the doubles point.
Singles:
Denver's top four courts all earned wins on Saturday, less than 24 hours after only Summers was able to record a point in Denver's top four spots in the lineup.
Nico Herrero Cuesta bumped back up to the top spot in the lineup, winning in straight-sets by a count of 6-3, 6-1. Herrero Cuesta is now 9-3 on the year.
Davis got back to winning ways in singles play less than a week after returning from injury, defeating his opponent on court two by a count of 6-3, 6-3. Davis improved to 6-4 on the year.
Following a three-set win on Friday night, Summers won in straight sets on Saturday, limiting his opponent to just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Summers is now 9-4 in the campaign.
Peter Sallay closed out the match on court four with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Sallay got back to .500 on the season with a 6-6 singles record.
UP NEXT: Following finals week, the Pioneers will head to Nevada, first for a trip to UNR on Sunday, March 20 at 1 p.m. MT before the Pioneers take on UNLV on Thursday at 4 p.m. MT.
