UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 13-ranked University of Denver women's gymnastics team posted its second highest score of the year on Saturday with a 197.075 at a Penn State quad meet.
Denver placed first overall and swept the event titles. Host Penn State was second (195.225), No. 21 Southern Utah placed third (194.425), and Cornell finished fourth (190.100).
SIGNIFICANT STATS
- Sophomore Jessica Hutchinson extended her all-around winning streak to five meets, scoring a 39.525, highlighted by her third straight 9.950 on floor, which ties her career best.
- Freshman Mia Hebinck won the first event title of her career with a personal-best 9.950 on bars.
- Sophomore Rylie Mundell placed second in the all-around and won her third vault title of 2022.
- In total, six DU gymnasts set a career high including at least one on each event.
- All four of Denver's team event scores ranked among the top five of the season.
BARS RECAP
Denver began the meet by tying the team's second highest bars score of the year (49.375) with five counted scores above the 9.800 mark. Hebinck's career-high 9.950 finished as the meet's top score. Mundell and senior
Alexandria Ruiz tied for third with 9.875 with Ruiz's matching her season high. Sophomore
Rosie Casali, too, matched her 2022 best score with a 9.850, and Hutchinson tallied a 9.825.
BEAM RECAP
DU rallied after a fall in the leadoff spot on beam, hitting the remaining five routines and finishing with a 49.225, the season's fourth highest score. Hutchinson won her first event title of the night with a 9.925 that was just .025 off her career high. Junior
Emma Brown returned to the lineup for the first time in a month and set a personal best with a 9.900 to finish second overall. Ruiz added another third-place tie and another season high-tying 9.875. Sophomores Mundell and
Bella Mabanta had DU's final counted scores with a 9.750 and a 9.775, respectively.
FLOOR RECAP
Denver's 49.275 on floor became the team's third best score of the season, highlighted by Hutchinson's event-winning and career high-tying 9.950. Mundell improved on her personal best, scoring a 9.900 and placing third. Mabanta was right behind her after scoring a 9.875 that was only .025 from her career high. Freshman

Emma Brown scored a 9.750 for DU's fifth counted score.
VAULT RECAP
DU dug deep in the final rotation, tallying a 49.200 that was the team's fourth highest score of the season despite only competing with five vaulters. Iwai led off the lineup with a career-best 9.850, which Casali later matched to also set a personal best. Ruiz had a 9.775, and Hutchinson scored a 9.825. Mundell anchored the lineup in the fifth spot and earned a 9.900 to finish in first on the event.
