[51] Denver Wins Fifth-Straight with Victory over St. Thomas

The Pioneers improved to 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in the Summit League

DENVER – The [51] University of Denver women's tennis team stayed in its good run of form with a 7-0 win over St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
 
With the victory Denver earned its fifth-straight win and improved to 2-0 in Summit League play.
 
Doubles:
Denver secured the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins on the odd courts. Britt Pursell and Camille Verden-Anderson won its fifth-straight match and improved to 7-3 on the season with a 6-1 victory on the top court.
 
In Andrea Burguete Beltran's first doubles match of her collegiate career, she paired with Tatum Burger to earn a 6-1 win on court three to clinch the doubles point. Toni Nelson and Taylor Melville were ahead 5-1 when the doubles point was clinched.
 
Singles:
Melville was the first to secure a singles point for Denver on Saturday afternoon, taking the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-1 to win her third-straight match and even-up her record at 4-4 on the year.
 
Nelson was the next to finish, making it 3-0 Pioneers after her 6-0, 6-0 win on court six. Nelson is now 5-3 on the year.
 
Pursell won her sixth-straight singles match to improve to 8-2 on the year, taking the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-0 on Saturday.
 
Verden-Anderson won her fourth-straight, going to 6-3 on the year with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court four.
 
Burger was the next across the line, taking the fifth singles match 6-3, 6-1, giving her wins in back-to-back matches to start the weekend and improve to 4-2 on the year.
 
Burgete-Beltran was the last match to finish, a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the freshman, her fourth-straight win to go to 6-3 on the year. 
 
Up Next:
Denver will wrap-up a five-match homestand on Sunday when the Pioneers welcome Air Force to the Denver Tennis Park. First serve is set for 4 p.m. MT.
