[65] Denver Moves to 5-0 in Summit League Play

The Pioneers lost just 12 games in a 7-0 sweep of the Leathernecks on Saturday afternoon

DENVER – The [65] University of Denver women's tennis team got to 10 wins on the season and improved to 5-0 in Summit League play with a 7-0 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
 
The Pioneers lost just 12 games across the six singles matches, after dropping just two games on the three doubles courts.
 
Doubles:
Denver got wins on the first and third court to clinch the doubles point. Top pairing of Britt Pursell and Camille Verden-Anderson won 6-1 on court one and Anna Riedmiller and Tatum Burger took a 6-1 victory on court three.
 
Pursell and Verden-Anderson improved to 9-5, and 7-3 in their last 10, while Riedmiller and Burger played their first match together this season.
 
Singles:
Toni Nelson and Burger got a pair of double bagel victories on courts five and six to get the Pioneers started in singles play. Nelson has won a team-high eight-straight matches and improved to 10-3 on the year on Saturday, while Burger ran her singles record to 8-3 in the campaign.
 
Riedmiller won the top singles match 6-0, 6-1, improving to 6-3 on the year with her fourth-straight win.
 
Andrea Burguete Beltran won her match won her match on court four by a count of 6-1, 6-1. Burguete Beltran is now 9-4 on the year.
 
Pursell won 6-4, 6-0 on court three to improve to a team-high 11 wins against just five losses in the campaign.
 
Verden-Anderson was the last over the line with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court two. The Denver senior moved to 9-5 on the year.
 
Up Next:
Denver (10-6, 5-0) will make the trip to Boulder on Wednesday when the Pioneers take on Colorado. First serve is set for 11 a.m. MT.
