OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Denver women's tennis team advanced to its eighth consecutive Summit League Tournament final with a 4-0 victory over host Omaha in the semifinals on Friday.
Due to weather conditions, matches were moved indoors to Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis Center.
Doubles:
Denver captured the doubles point after matching 6-1 victories from
Britt Pursell and
Camille Verden-Anderson on court one and
Tatum Burger and
Andrea Burguete Beltran on court three.
Both teams remain undefeated in league play this year.
Singles:
All six of DU's singles players won their first sets to help set up what would be a Denver sweep.
Verden-Anderson captured her second win of the day with a 6-0 6-3 win in less than an hour on court four for Denver's first singles victory. Her doubles teammate Pursell dropped just two games for DU's second singles point, winning 6-1 6-1 on court three.
Verden-Anderson moves to 8-0 in Summit League singles matches this year, and Pursell improved to 8-1 with Friday's win.
Denver's clinching point came from Burguete Beltran's 6-2 6-1 win on court five just seconds after Pursell's win. The Summit League Freshman of the Year, Burguete Beltran is undefeated in league singles matches.
