DENVER – University of Denver graduate student
Sami Feller was named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch List for midfielders on Friday.
The Grand Junction, Colorado, native was one of 38 midfielders across the country to earn a spot on the list.
Feller is coming off a 2021 campaign in which she earned a place on the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team, marking her fourth regional team honor. She scored twice during the 2021 season and added 11 assists, which ranked No. 19 nationally. She was also ranked No. 16 in the country in assists per game (.58).
The graduate student returns to Denver in 2022 for a fifth year of eligibility awarded as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the first year that United Soccer Coaches has announced preseason Players to Watch. Feller is the only player from The Summit League to land on the list for midfielders.
Feller will help lead DU when the team kicks off the 2022 season against San Diego at home on Thursday, August 18. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
Denver begins play with exhibition games against Texas Tech and the Colorado School of Mines on Friday, August 12, and Sunday, August 14, respectively. Admission is free for both matches.
