Series History
  • This is the third meeting in the all-time series against Western Michigan.
  • The Pioneers are 2-0 in the matchup.
  • DU last played the Broncos in 2015, a 3-0 sweep in Hamilton Gymnasium.
  • This is the first meeting against Green Bay.
  • This is the 11th meeting between Denver and Colorado.
  • The Buffaloes hold a 9-1 record in the series, including winning the last nine matches between the two teams.
  • The teams last met in 2009, a 3-0 CU victory in Hamilton Gymnasium.

  • The Crimson and Gold come into the season after another successful year in 2021.  The ranked in the top three in the Summit League in aces/set (1st, 1.95), assists/set (1st, 12.52), hitting percentage (1st, .266), kills/set (1st, 13.78) opponent hitting percentage (1st, .164), opponent digs per set (1st, 11.85) last year.
  • The Pioneers have won their last five straight season openers going back to 2017.
  • DU has a record of 14-2 (.875) in the month of August under Tom Hogan.
  • Gianna Bartalo ranked eighth in the Summit League in digs/set with 3.79 average last year.
  • Brianna Green finished seventh in the Summit League in hitting percentage with a .339 average, a career high.
  • Hailey Green was awarded for her impressive freshman campaign in 2021, taking home Summit League Freshman of the Year along with being on the All-Freshmen Team.
  • Brianna Green was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19, 2021 for the first time in her career.

Summit League Preseason Poll
  • Denver was picked first in the Summit League Preseason Poll and received six first-place votes by the coaches on Aug. 24.
  • Seniors Brianna Green and Lorrin Poulter were tabbed as "Players to Watch" by the league.
