BOULDER, CO --The Denver volleyball team fell 3-2 (14-25, 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 9-15) to the Colorado Buffaloes Saturday on the road at CU Events Center.
The non-conference loss moved Denver to 0-3 on the season.
The Pioneers attack was paced by Hailey Green, who finished with 19 kills on the day, and by Jordan Lockwood, who had 16. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Lorrin Poulter had 17 and Ryen Wilkens had 15. From the front row, Brianna Green contributed seven blocks and Poulter added five rejections.

SET 1 | The Pioneers fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-14. Denver trailed by as many as 11 points as Colorado never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up zero times before the Buffaloes took control.
SET 2 | Denver responded to pick up a 25-21 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. The Pioneers grabbed control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and never looked back. Denver led by as many as seven points at 21-14 before closing out the set. The Denver offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Denver built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Pioneers persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured nine lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way.
SET 4 | Denver couldn't keep the win streak going, as the Buffaloes forced a fifth set with a 25-23 fourth-set win. Colorado grabbed the advantage for good at 24-23 and Denver wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up four times before the Buffaloes took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 5 | Denver opened a lead of two sets to one before falling in the final two sets, including a 15-9 loss in the fifth set. The Pioneers trailed by as many as six points before losing the fifth set.
