Career night from Glasgow propels Pioneers past Butler 3-1

Senior with a career-best 17 kills

DENVER, CO - Memphis Glasgow collected a career-best 17 kills with a .361attack percentage to help carry the Denver volleyball team to a four-set win (25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-14) over the Butler Bulldogs Friday at home at Hamilton Gymnasium.

The out-of-conference victory improved the Pioneers' overall record to 2-3 on the season.

The Pioneers were led by a double-double from Jordan Lockwood, who registered 12 kills and 11 digs on the day. Brianna Green also added 11 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Gianna Bartalo chipped in for with 15 digs to go with eight blocks from Boyer.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Pioneers won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-15. Denver opened up its biggest lead, 10 points, to finish off the set.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Denver put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-16 victory in set number two. The Pioneers led from the first point on in the set to secure the victory. Denver opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 24-14 before finishing off the set, totaling 17 kills in the process. The Pioneers hit .438 over the course of a set where they racked up 17 kills.

SET 3 | Denver couldn't finish off the sweep, losing the third set to make their lead two sets to one in the match. The Pioneers fell in a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-22 in a set that featured two lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.

SET 4 | Denver then responded to claim the match win with a 25-14 set-four victory. The Pioneers scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Denver opened up as much as a 12 point lead at 24-12 before finishing off the stanza. Denver also supplemented their offense with five aces in the set. Denver got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Butler attacks in the stanza.
