DENVER – The University of Denver women's lacrosse team ranks No. 10 in the nation in the USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll that was released on Tuesday.
The Pioneers are the only Big East Conference program in the ranking, which is led by defending national champion North Carolina at No. 1.
Denver went 18-3 overall last season and 5-0 in conference play to earn its third-straight Big East regular season championship. The Pios also claimed their second consecutive conference tournament title and reached the sweet 16 of the national tournament for the fourth-straight campaign.
The Pioneers open the regular season on Feb. 10 at Louisville and host No. 18 Michigan in their home opener at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on March 1. Overall, four other opponents on DU's 2023 schedule are presently in the preseason poll with Maryland at No. 2 (March 5), Boston College at No. 3 (March 19), Stanford at No. 9 (April 14) and Jacksonville at No. 19 (March 22).
