DENVER – University of Denver gymnast
Kiley Rorich was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The freshman made her collegiate debut on January 29 against Oklahoma, entering the bars lineup and scoring a 9.900, which matched the highest bars score by a DU freshman in her collegiate debut. She joins Nina McGee (2013) as the only DU gymnasts to hit the 9.900 mark on bars in their first meet for Denver.
Rorich's score contributed toward DU's season-best 49.400 on the event, as well the team's 197.425 final team score that tied the 10
th-highest overall score in program history.
This is the first Big 12 award of Rorich's career and the third weekly award for a Denver gymnast this season. Fellow freshman
Mila Brusch was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for Week 2 while junior
Rosie Casali was Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for Week 2 as well.
No. 8 Denver hosts George Washington, Pittsburgh and Air Force on Sunday, February 5, at 1:45 p.m. in Magness Arena.
