Remington and Beay Earn Wins in Opening Session in Houston

Meets two and three of the Rice Fall Splash Invitational will take place Saturday in Houston
HOUSTON – The University of Denver women's swimming and diving program got a pair of wins and five podium finishes on Friday evening in meet one of three of the 2023 Rice Fall Splash Invitational at the Rice Competition Pool.

Event Wins:
Women's 50 Free – Erika Remington – 23.68
Women's 50 Back – Ali Beay – 26.17
Erika Remington's 50 free highlighted the opening stages of the meet for the Denver women as the graduate student tied for the event win with a time of 23.68.
In another Friday sprint, Ali Beay out-swam the field in the 50 back, clocking in at 26.17 to get Denver's second spot on a podium.
Freshman Lilly Zippel turned in a third-place time of 2:05.90 in the women's 200 IM in her second collegiate individual swim.
Daniela Alfaro led the Pioneers and all Houston swimmers in the women's 500 free, taking third in the overall race with a time of 4:59.62.
Friday night's session, the first of three in Houston this weekend, finished with the 100 free relay. The Pioneers combination of Megan Lucyshyn, Beay, Ines Marin and Remington tallied a 44.18.
