SANTIAGO, Chile – University of Denver gymnast and alumna
Lynnzee Brown once again hit four-for-four in qualifying at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, on Sunday.
Brown, who represents Haiti, finished with a 47.632 in the all-around to finish No. 14 in the final qualification standings – the highest finish for an athlete not competing with a team. She scored a 13.400 on vault, an 11.066 on bars, an 11.300 on beam and an 11.866 on floor.
By way of her finish in Sunday's meet, Brown advanced to the all-around final, which is scheduled for Monday, October 23, at 6 p.m. local time/3 p.m. MT.
On the line in Monday's final is one individual all-around berth to the 2023 Olympic Games. The top finisher on Monday – excluding athletes who have already secured an individual spot in Paris or from countries that have already qualified for the 2024 Games – will earn a spot for next summer's Olympics.
Joining Brown in Santiago is fellow Denver alumna
Kristina Coccia, who is serving as Brown's coach for the competition.
The Raytown, Missouri, native concluded her six-year career at the University of Denver with a program-record fourth-place finish in the all-around at the 2023 NCAA National Championships. She leaves DU as one of the most decorated gymnasts in program history, winning an NCAA national title on floor in 2019 and four Big 12 Conference championships including in the all-around in 2021. In total, she accumulated 20 WCGA All-American honors during her collegiate career and set Denver records for all-around score (39.825) and most career perfect 10.0s (five).
