DENVER, CO --The Denver volleyball team put together a .301 hitting percentage en route to a 3-2 victory (25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 17-25, 15-10) against the Omaha Mavericks Wednesday at Hamilton Gymnasium.
The victory improved the Pioneers' record to 12-11 overall and 11-4 in Summit action.
The Pioneers offense was paced by Cassie Davis, who finished with 22 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .372. Ava Reynolds added 17 and MacKenzie Fidelak chipped in with 13 as part of balanced Denver attack. Defensively, the Pios had two players reach double figures in digs as Gianna Bartalo had 13 and Briley Decker had 11. From the front row, Cadi Boyer contributed six blocks and Davis added five rejections.

SET 1 | The Pioneers grabbed control of the set-one lead at 2-1 and never looked back to win 25-17. Denver opened up its biggest lead, eight points, to finish off the set, collecting 16 kills along the way.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Denver put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Pioneers earned the set victory propelled by a strong performance on the attacking end. Denver registered a .393 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set win. The Pioneers opened up a 24-18 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. The Denver offense also got a boost from five aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Denver couldn't end the match in a sweep, losing set three to make their lead two sets to one in the match. The Pioneers fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-21.
SET 4 | Denver then dropped their second straight set 25-17 to brind the match level at two sets apiece. The Pioneers lost the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set.
SET 5 | Denver had to play a fifth set to take the match. After they grabbed a two sets to none lead, Omaha responded to take the third and fourth sets before the Pioneers finished off their victory with a 15-10 fifth-set win. The Pioneers led from the first point on in the fifth set to secure the victory. Denver opened up as much as a six point lead at 10-4 before finishing off the set.
