FARGO, ND --The Denver men's basketball team came up short in a 78-70 loss to the North Dakota State Bison on the road Saturday.
The Pioneers (13-15, 4-11) had three players score in double figures, led by Tommy Bruner, who had 18 points and five assists. Lukas Kisunas added 15 points and seven rebounds and Touko Tainamo chipped in as well with 12 points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 7-5, Denver went on an 11-0 run with 15:40 left in the first half to take a 16-7 lead. The Pioneers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 30-28 advantage.
North Dakota State proceeded to take a 55-51 lead before Denver went on a 5-0 run to seize a 56-55 lead with 7:03 to go in the contest. North Dakota State re-asserted control, outscoring the Pioneers 23-14 the rest of the way to hand Denver the 78-70 loss. Denver took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 40 points in the lane.
