DU Men’s Tennis Hosts Three Matches in Three Days

Denver welcomes Metro State, Utah State for February 17 doubleheader; hosts Idaho on February 19

DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team returns to Denver Tennis Park to host three matches over the course of three days on February 17-19.
 
DU will play a doubleheader on Friday, February 17, first welcoming Metropolitan State at 11 a.m. MT before hosting Utah State at 5 p.m. MT.
 
After a day off, Denver will welcome Idaho on Sunday, February 19, at 10:30 a.m. MT in the first of a men's/women's doubleheader for DU Tennis. The DU women's team will host Brown afterward at approximately 2 p.m. MT.
 
Last Time Out:
DU dropped a narrow 4-3 decision at Wichita State on February 12. Sophomore Daniel Sancho Arbizu moved to the No. 1 singles slot and captured an upset victory over No. 97-ranked Kristof Minarik, 6-7(5) 6-1 5-1 (ret.). Junior Nicolas Herrero Cuesta won in straight sets in No. 2 singles while freshman Raffaello Papajcik captured the first singles win of his collegiate career in No. 6 singles.
 
Series History:
Metro State: DU is 4-0 against MSU including 7-0 sweeps in the last three matches, most recently coming on February 19, 2022, at Denver Tennis Park.
 
Utah State: Denver holds a 5-1 all-time record against Utah State and has won the last two matches, 6-1. The teams last met at USU on February 19, 2021, and the Aggies last traveled to Denver on February 1, 2020.
 
Idaho: Denver won the only two previous meetings against Idaho, both 4-0 sweeps in Denver. The teams have not played since April 28, 2013.
 
Up Next:
DU begins a three-match road trip when it travels to Utah on February 25 with the match slated for a 12 p.m. MT start.
