Box Score 2 DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team (4-4) won all but one possible point in a Friday double header against Metropolitan State and Utah State.
DU used a 7-0 sweep to start the day against Metro State before adding a 6-1 win over Utah State in the team's second match of the day.

Doubles:
After mixing up its teams, DU captured the doubles point after dropping just three combined games across Courts 2 and 3. DU's No. 2 team of redshirt senior
Anish Sriniketh and junior
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta won five straight games for a 6-1 win, and sophomore
Daniel Sancho Arbizu and freshman
Raffaello Papajcik used a break early and a second break late to seal the point for DU with a 6-2 victory in No. 3 doubles.
In No. 1 doubles, juniors
Peter Sallay and
Charlie Miller broke in the third game and were up 5-3 when the match was stopped.
Singles:
Denver won all six singles matches – including five in straight sets. Herrero Cuesta wrapped up his No. 2 singles match first, setting the tone with a break in his first return game in the first set on his way to a 6-1 6-2 win.
Graduate student
Conner Olsen, too, dropped just three games in his 6-2 6-1 win in No. 5 singles, using early breaks in both sets plus breaks in the final games of each.
Papajcik claimed his second singles win in as many matches on Court 6. He equaled Herrero Cuesta's score line of 6-1 6-2, taking early 3-0 and 2-0 leads, respectively, before adding insurance breaks.
Playing in No. 1 singles for the second-straight match, Sancho Arbizu broke late to win the first set, 6-3, before adding two early breaks in the second set and holding on for a 6-2 win.
Sallay could not recover from an early break down in the first set, dropping it 4-6 before breaking four times across the final two sets to win it in three.
Sriniketh sealed the sweep for Denver. After unsuccessfully serving for the first set at 5-3, he found himself in a first-set tiebreak, which he won, 7-4. He broke midway through the second set and ultimately took it, 6-4.
UTAH STATE RECAP
Doubles:
DU claimed its second doubles point of the day with a 6-1 win from Herrero Cuesta/Sriniketh on Court 2 and a 6-2 win from Sancho Arbizu/Papajcik on Court 3.
Singles:
Denver won five of the six singles matches including straight-sets wins for Herrero Cuesta in No. 2 singles (6-3 6-3), Sallay in No. 3 singles (6-4 6-3) and Papajcik (7-6[4] 6-4) in No. 6 singles.
After going to his second first-set tiebreak of the day, Sriniketh won the second set with a late break, 7-5. In a deciding match tiebreak, the redshirt senior came out on top 11-9.
All three of Olsen's sets finished with 6-4 score lines in No. 5 singles to finish off the night. He dropped the first set, 4-6, but fought back to win the final two sets by matching scores of 6-4.
