No. 13 DU Earns Seventh-Highest Postseason Score at Big 12s

Denver places second at 2023 Big 12 Championship (197.175) on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia – The No. 13-ranked University of Denver women's gymnastics team finished second at the 2023 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship on Saturday.

DU's final team score of 197.175 is its fourth-highest at a Big 12 Championship and its seventh-highest all-time postseason score.

No. 1 Oklahoma took the title with a 198.400 while host West Virginia (196.225) and Iowa State (193.750) placed third and fourth, respectively.

COACH'S NOTES:
From Joy S. Burns Head Women's Gymnastics Coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart: "I think they did a great job, and I'm proud of how they performed all the way to the end. I thought it was a really gritty performance that will prepare us well heading into Regionals. We went above 197.1 even with opportunities to improve. We're ready to capitalize on our strengths.

"I'm especially proud of the resiliency coming off of finals week. I feel good going to into Regionals and with the rest and recovery that our student-athletes will get.".
