SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Denver men's tennis team (8-7) won the top two singles matches but was unable to upset to No. 37-ranked UTSA on the road on Wednesday.
Doubles:
UTSA took the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 2, holding on to leads after breaking in the third and seventh games, respectively.
Denver's No. 3 team of sophomore
Daniel Sancho Arbizu and freshman
Raffaello Papajcik had a break lead in the their match and had a 6-5 lead when UTSA claimed the doubles point, leaving the No. 3 match unfinished.
Singles:
Denver dropped the Nos. 3, 4 and 6 singles matches to UTSA but got on the board when junior
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta topped UTSA's Alan Magadan on court 2 in straight sets. He broke late for a 5-3 lead in the first set before recovering from a break down in the second with two breaks of his own to win it, 6-4.
In No. 1 singles Sancho Arbizu dropped the first set to UTSA's Tiago Torres after giving up a late break but evened things up after breaking in the seventh game of the second set and serving it out for 6-4. The match would be decided in a 10-point match tiebreak which Sancho Arbizu claimed, 10-7.
Junior
Charlie Miller took the first set in No. 5 singles but ultimately found himself in a match tiebreak as well, which he lost, 10-5, to UTSA's Danijal Muminovic.

Denver concludes its non-conference schedule when it returns home to host New Mexico on Saturday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m. at Denver Tennis Park.
