DENVER – The No. 67 University of Denver men's tennis team opened the Summit League slate with a 4-3 victory over No. 61 Drake on Sunday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park. The Pioneers were victorious in a match-up of two programs that have shared the league title each of the last three full seasons.

Doubles:
Drake earned the doubles point with wins on the top two courts, taking the matches 6-4 and 6-2.

Singles:
The Pioneers came all the way back in singles, taking the lead with wins on courts one and two. Nicolas Herrero Cuesta blanked his opponent in straight sets on the top court, improving to 13-4 on the season with his 6-0, 6-0 win.

Daniel Sancho Arbizu made it 2-1 Denver with his 6-2, 6-3 victory on court two. The win also pushed his singles record to 13-4.

Drake evened the score up on court five, before Charlie Miller ran his singles record to 5-5, taking a first-set tiebreak and winning the second set 6-4 to put Denver back in-front 3-2. The Bulldogs won on court four to even-up the score again, turning all eyes to a tight third-set on court three.

Peter Sallay dropped the first set 6-3, before flipping the script in the second, also by a count of 6-3. Tied at 5-all in the third, Sallay got a hold and a break to win his 10th match of the season and clinch the team match for the Pioneers.
