DENVER – The No. 61-ranked University of Denver men's tennis team (14-7) will meet Omaha in the semifinals of the 2023 Summit League Men's Tennis Championship on Friday, April 21, at 9 a.m. CT/8 a.m. MT.
The winner of Friday's match between No. 1-seeded Denver and No. 4-seeded Omaha will advance to the Summit League final on Saturday to take on the winner of Friday's second semifinal between No. 2-seeded Drake against No. 3-seeded North Dakota.
DU is seeking its sixth Summit League tournament title after winning the regular-season crown for the fourth-straight time.
Last Time Out:
DU secured a perfect 6-0 record in Summit League play with a 5-2 win at North Dakota on April 16. After dropping the doubles point, Denver rebounded with five consecutive singles wins, four of which came in straight sets.
Series History Against the Field:
Omaha: DU is 12-0 against Omaha after winning their regular-season matchup, 5-2, in Denver on April 14. The teams have met four times in the Summit League tournament, most recently in the 2021 final, which DU won, 4-0. This will be just the second Summit League semifinal meeting between DU and Omaha with DU winning 4-0 in 2017.
Drake: Denver defeated Drake, 4-3, in the regular season at home to move to 13-9 against the Bulldogs all-time. The two teams have met twice before in the Summit League final with Drake coming out on top in 2019 and 2022.
North Dakota: DU ended its regular season with a 5-2 win at UND for its fifth all-time head-to-head win. Denver and North Dakota have only met in the Summit League tournament once, a 4-0 for Denver in the 2021 semifinal.
Denver's Summit League Tournament History:
DU has advanced to the Summit League Men's Tennis Tournament in every season since joining the League in 2013-14. Denver has appeared in the final seven times and won it five times, most recently in 2021.
