SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Denver was rewarded for its play this year on Friday, having five players earn All-Summit League honors from the league in a release.
The Pioneers had four first-team selections in
Anna Zanusso,
Anna Krekling,
Alyson Bean and
Clara Gestsdottir and
Emma Bryant received a second-team nod.
The five selections tied the most for the program since joining the league back in the fall of 2013.
Zanusso earned first-team honors for a third straight season. The reigning Summit League Golfer of the Year has been dominant again this season, posting 16 rounds or par-or-better to go with a scoring average of 72.0, the lowest in the Summit League.
For Bean, this marks the second straight year she was a first-team selection. The graduate student has also been a two-time second-team honoree (2019, 2021). Bean has had her best year yet at DU, posting a career-best 72.5 scoring average, which ranks third in the Summit League. She also recorded her first career win at the Westbrook Invitational back in February.
Krekling continues to add to her solid career at Denver, earning a first-team selection for the first time in 2023. The senior has recorded a 73.6 scoring average, which ranks fourth in the Summit League this season.
Gestsdottir makes an all-league team for the first time in her career with a first-team selection. The reigning Summit League Newcomer of the Year has taken her game to another level this season, with career bests in scoring average (74.63), par-or-better rounds (7) and rounds shot in the 60s (3).
Bryant earns second-team honors this season, the first for her career. The Aurora, Colo. native has posted a 75.71 scoring average this season with four rounds of par-or-better.
The Pioneers look to defend their Summit League crown this upcoming weekend with the Summit League Championship in Lincoln, Neb.
