DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team has signed
Karsyn Evans for the upcoming 2023-24 season, head coach
Paul Wardlaw announced on Thursday.
Evans signed her National Letter of Intent to join DU beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
The Ennis, Texas, native is a five-star recruit, according to TennisRecruiting.net, who ranked as high as No. 20 in the country in her recruiting class. In 2022, she advanced to the semifinals of an ITF tournament in Zapopan, Mexico; and in 2021, she won an ITF title in Cancun. She also made the semifinals of the 2019 Eddie Herr International Junior Championship and placed third overall in the 2018 USTA National Winter Championships – both in the girls 14 division.
Denver is coming off a 2022-23 season that saw the Pioneers win the Summit League championship and advance to the NCAA National Championships, each for a ninth-straight season. The team finished with a final ITA national ranking of No. 53.
DU will return six of its seven student-athletes from its 2022-23 roster to the 2023-24 roster, including rising graduate student
Britt Pursell and rising junior
Andrea Burguete Beltran, who were both ranked in the top 10 in the final ITA Mountain Regional singles rankings.
