DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer program will open up the 2023 season on Thursday night at the DU Soccer Stadium when the Pioneers welcome San Diego State to the Mile High City. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT, and will be streamed live on Summit League Network.

Last Time Out:
Following a 1-0 win in a snow storm against San Diego, the Pioneers fell to No. 7 Duke in the NCAA Second Round last November. The Pioneers have reached the second round of the competition in each of the last two years, including a 2021 win over Sunday's opponent Grand Canyon.
The Series:
Denver has a 5-4-1 edge in the series, including a 4-0-0 mark in home matches against their former Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent. In last season's meeting in California, three second half goals went 2-1 in SDSU's favor to give the Aztecs the victory. Denver was 3-1-1 against SDSU while the two programs were in the MPSF (2001-04).
The Franks Foundation:
Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks is 97-33-23 as a head coach at Denver, 132-50-31 in his 12 years overall with the Pioneers and 231-77-48 in his time as a player and a coach in college soccer.
Pios at Home:
Denver is 90-21-15 at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium, including 80-10-9 since Franks joined the staff as an assistant in 2012 and 55-8-6 since he took over as head coach in 2015.
