DENVER – The [RV/23] University of Denver men's soccer team will continue its season-long homestand on Friday when the Pioneers welcome [11/17] SMU to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast live on Altitude TV and the Summit League Network.

Last Time Out:
Goals from Oje Ofunrein, Holger Olsson and Sam Bassett took Denver to its first win of the 2023 season when the Pioneers shut out Grand Canyon 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Denver allowed just one shot on goal in the opening weekend of matches, with the one coming late in the second half on Sunday from over 25 yards out.
The Series:
SMU has a 3-1-1 edge in the series, including four previous meetings between the 2015 and 2021 seasons. The four most recent meetings have all been decided by a goal or less, and three of the four had gone to extra time before last season's rule change to eliminate extra time during the regular season. The Pioneers earned a 1-1 draw in Dallas in the last meeting in 2021. SMU has won both previous meetings in Denver.
The Franks Foundation:
Jack and Sheila Weinberg Head Men's Soccer Coach Jamie Franks is 98-33-24 as a head coach at Denver, 133-50-32 in his 12 years overall with the Pioneers and 232-77-49 in his time as a player and a coach in college soccer.
Pios at Home:
Denver is 91-21-16 at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium, including 81-10-10 since Franks joined the staff as an assistant in 2012 and 56-8-7 since he took over as head coach in 2015.

The Pioneers will have the weekend off before a Labor Day meeting with [RV/30] Creighton. Monday's kickoff at DU Soccer Stadium is also scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.
