Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DENVER – University of Denver men's tennis player and junior Rikuto Yamaguchi won the Falcon "C" Draw at the Bedford Cup in the Mountains on Sunday to bring a close to DU's first week of the fall season.
 
Yamaguchi came back to win the title after dropping the first set. He won the second-set tiebreak before taking the third set, 6-3, to win the final in his first tournament as a Pioneer.
 
Also at the Bedford Cup, graduate student Anish Sriniketh finished third in the Lightning "A" Draw after his opponent withdrew from the match.
 
At the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic and after upsetting two nationally-ranked players, junior Daniel Sancho Arbizu's comeback in the singles final fell short. After dropping the first set and going down an early break in the second set, he fought back to level the match with a couple late breaks in the second frame. However, he lost his serve to go down 1-3 in the third set and couldn't find the break back.
 
Denver continues its fall schedule at two ITA tournaments. Senior Nicolas Herrero Cuesta will compete at the 2023 ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, beginning on Saturday, September 30, while the rest of the Denver squad will play at the 2023 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by the Air Force Academy, starting on Thursday, September 28.
