VERMILLION, SD --The Denver volleyball team fell to the South Dakota Coyotes in three sets (17-25, 14-25, 17-25) Saturday at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, S.D.
The loss dropped Denver's record to 4-8 overall and 3-1 in Summit play.
Cassie Davis finished with six kills on the day to lead the Pioneers offense. Denver got five digs from Gianna Bartalo to lead defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Pioneers found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-17. Denver trailed by as many as nine points as South Dakota grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up two times before the Coyotes took control.
SET 2 | Denver then lost the second set 25-14 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Pioneers fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Denver was not able to win set three and was swept by South Dakota. The Pioneers lost a tough set 25-17. Denver trailed by as many as 10 points as South Dakota grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Coyotes took over the lead.
