Eric Houck Joins Denver Skiing as Assistant Nordic Coach

Michigan Tech grad previous served in the same role at his alma mater

DENVER – University of Denver Skiing announced today that Eric Houck has been named assistant Nordic coach of the program.
 
"I am thrilled to bring on Eric Houck as the new Nordic ski assistant coach for what is slated to be a very exciting season for the team," said Nordic Skiing Head Coach Rogan Brown. "Eric's deep technical knowledge in the sport along with his previous coaching experience will help carry the momentum we have going into the winter."
 
Houck joins the Pioneers after spending three seasons at Michigan Technological University as a graduate assistant coach from 2019-2022. A graduate of MTU, Houck played a key role in the Huskies' success as he coached All-American athletes for the NCAA Championships and qualified skiers to the FIS U23 World Ski Championships. Among his duties were planning training sessions, analyzing ski techniques and providing race and waxing support.
 
In 2023, he waxed for Team USA at the World University Games in Lake Placid, New York, helping the Americans bring home five medals. He was also the head wax tech for Team USA that season. at the IBU Cup Finals (biathlon) in Canmore, Alberta.
 
"I'm very excited to be joining the DU skiing program as an assistant coach," Houck said. "DU has a rich history of skiing success and a strong crew of skiers this year. I'm really looking forward to working with all the athletes here and seeing what we can accomplish this season."
 
The Syracuse, New York, native spent three seasons on the Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team before turning to coaching. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 2020 and his master's degree in mechatronics in 2022 from MTU.
 
In addition to his skiing experience, Houck worked as a mechanical design engineer for ASML for the previous two years.
